Fire Chief

We
have developed a number of products and systems we use in our research.
The two main data-gathering platforms are the Networked Fire
Chief microworld software and the Head-Mounted Video
system used for capturing events from the first-person perspective
of the participant.
The supporting techniques for enhancing the data are the Two-Stage
Cued Recall Debrief and the Video-Based Eye Tracking.
A purpose built usability / simulation laboratory
has been designed for use when required. |
Networked Fire Chief

Networked
Fire Chief is a “microworld” (in the USA, “scaled
world”) generating program which can be used to develop a
range of forest fire fighting scenarios.
Over the last eight or so years we have run many large scale experiments
using Networked Fire Chief. In this time we have been able to fully
explore the programs flexibilty and have thus been able to use it
to explore a range of theoretical issues in complex decision making. |
