Two PRS students awarded postgraduate scholarships

Congratulations to Mr Dean Hadlow and Mr Paul Weeks who have both been awarded Higher Degree Research scholarships for their outstanding results in the Philosophy and Religious Studies Honours program. Mr Hadlow and Mr Weeks were ranked fourth and sixth respectively in the Faculty for Humanities & Social Sciences at La Trobe University. They continue a solid tradition of success established by the Philosophy and Religious Studies program which includes two recent D. M. Myers University medal recipients.

Mr Hadlow's honours thesis, entitled "So Men To Come Will Sing Your Praises Down The Years," was an examination of the role and symbolism of human memory in Homer's Odyssey. His doctoral doctoral study, provisionally entitled "Dante the Naturalist," is an examination of Dante Alighieri's natural philosophy.

Mr Week's honour thesis, "Praying with Nature: A Metaphysical Perspective on the Environmental Crisis," presented an impressive engagement with some of the key philosophical developments underpinning modern thought and, in particular, the ideololgy of "scientism." His doctoral study considers the development of Tibetan Buddhism in the West.
