Profile
Mr Ben Kearton
Course of study:
Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience 2012
My parents encouraged me to do well at high school and go to university, my mum didn’t have the chance to when she was young because of money and so wanted me to do the best that I could.
My choice to come to La Trobe was based on mostly my interests outside of school and also the classes that I enjoyed and did well in. I always loved animals and had lots of pets while growing up so I was quite sure that I wanted to get into that field.
There’s always a way to get where you want to if your ATAR isn’t what you were hoping. I started in the Bachelor of Science and was approved to transfer into the second year of the course I had hoped for.
The facilities and study resources are fantastic, everything I need for my reports and assignments I find in the library, it’s great. The atmosphere around the uni is really good, the social scene is really good with heaps of cafes and shops to have lunch with friends or just hang out on the grass reserves.
After the Bachelor Animal and Veterinary Bioscience I am hoping to continue my studies to gain my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and eventual become a veterinarian.
