The university experience is not
all hard work - for over 20 years, podiatry students have worked
to develop a number of social events to provide an outlet from
academia.
Functions
include:
Orientation
Week
('O' Week)
This
week comprises student tours of the University, (including the
Union bar) and a breakfast and dinner to help induct new first
year podiatrists into podiatry. A great way to break the ice and
make new friends.
Ironguts
Often
held on St. Patrick's day, this event consists of a number of
stations (eg. swallowing a raw egg or somersaulting 5 times) in
teams comprising of year groups.
The
shining star of the podiatry social calendar. Often a black-tie
function, with or without a theme. Not to be missed.
Pod
Follies
The
post-exam casual function, at which in the past a number of bands
have played that contain at least one podiatry student member.
End-of-year
and ski trips
Not
much information is available about these, but Falls Creek and
Merimbula/the Gold Coast are favourite destinations. The University
owned Howqua lodge has also been visited a number of times.
