POD21PBM 'Great Debate'

'The Great Biomechanical Debate': this lecture time will be taken up with a debate instead, breaking the student group into four. You will be required to assertively argue the case that your assigned biomechanical theory is the best of all within two scenarios. This will be outlined further the week before the debate.

Groups

Group 1: 'The Traditionalists'
Group 2: 'Sagittal plane facilitators'
Group 3: 'Centre of Pressurists'
Group 4: 'Tissue Stressors'

(students to be randomly assigned to groups the week before the debate)

Scenarios

Scenario One

A pseduo-patient will walk up and down the lecture room. It is up to each of the four groups to determine whether you see a discrepancy in how this patient functions biomechanically, and explain the foot biomechanics using the theory you have been allocated.

Each of the groups will have about 5 minutes to discuss the above.

Scenario Two

Which biomechanical theory of the foot is best?

Each of the groups will be given one corner of the room to briefly discuss their arguments (and potential rebuttals), then will come together in a circle with facilitators Craig and Adam (a la Geoffrey Robertson's hypotheticals) in the centre.
