Manipulation of HAV

 

 

Pre-manipulation

Note the 1st intermetatarsal space is greater than 12°

The HAV angle is greater than 15°

The hallux is subluxed on the 1st metatarsal

The 1st metatarsal is adducted on the 1st cuneiform

 

Post-Manipulation

Note the 1st intermetatarsal space is reduced

The HAV angle is reduced

The entire proximal phalanx of the hallux of the hallux articulates with 1st metatarsal
