Digital Deformities

 

Congenitally stenosed distal interphalangeal joint of the fifth digit; may result in problems with shoe fitting

 

A congenital curled toe or adductovarus 5th toe

 

Retracted toes - extension deformity of the MTPJs with flexion of the proximal and distal IPJs

 

Polydactylia - presence of extra digit(s); congenital deformity of third proximal phalanx which has divided to form two digits

 

Claw toes - as viewed on lateral weightbearing radiograph; differentiated from retracted toes by the ability of the distal phalanx to make ground contact

Mallet Toe: Weightbearing: note the plantarflexed position of the distal phalanx of both 3rd digits.
