Calcaneal Fractures

To view calcaneal fractures, plain x-rays include; AP, lateral and oblique views of the foot. The lateral film displays the Bohler's angle which measures the height of the posterior facet and should be between 20-40°. Fractures of the calcaneus can pose a complex assessment for the clinician, especially those involving the subtalar joint.

Calcaneal Fracture

Lateral view (ankle)- Fracture appearing as the darkened horizontal line which extends across the entire inferior portion of the calcaneus.

Bohler's angle should always be calculated for calcaneal fractures to assess for any changes to the alignment
