Talipes Equino Varus

Talipes Equino Varus (TEV), otherwise referred to as 'clubfoot', has various anatomical variations from the normal foot. There is an adducted forefoot, inverted hindfoot, ankle equinus, plantar medial displacement of the navicular on the head of the talus, lateral position of the body of the talus in the ankle mortise, posterior deviation of the lateral malleolus, medial subluxation of the cuboid on the calcaneus and associated soft tissue contractures.

The angle made between the longitudinal axes of the talus and first metatarsal is largely increased whilst the talo-calcaneal angle is significantly reduced.

The talus has an overall reduction in size, the head and neck are malaligned and angulate in a plantomedial direction. The talar declination angle is reduced to 135 degress, 15 degrees less than in the normal foot.
