Ankle Ligament Rupture

Obvious lateral movement of the talus in the ankle mortise indicating (in the abscence of obvious medial malleolus fracture) a probable deltoid ligament rupture.

Anterior movement of the talus in the ankle mortise (see widening of posterior aspect of joint, arrow heads) indicates a probable rupture of the anterior talofibular ligament, common in lateral ankle sprains.
