Scholarships and prizes
La Trobe provides a number of scholarships to assist students with their studies in times of financial need. There are also many awards and prizes that provide recognition of academic achievement.
Scholarships
Dean's Scholarship for Academic Excellence
Ten scholarships are available each year for eligible students commencing in undergraduate courses offered by the Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering.
Postgraduate research
- Scholarships for Australian students: applications close 31 October 2012.
- Scholarships for International students: applications close 30 September 2012.

Prizes
Andrew Downing Prize in Physics – Third Year
Awarded to the most outstanding student in third year physics.
Dean's Honour List
The Dean's Honours is awarded for recognition of outstanding academic achievement in the Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering.
Head of Department's Prize in Physics - First Year
Awarded to the most outstanding student in first year physics.
Head of Department's Prize in Physics – Fourth Year
Awarded to the most outstanding student in fourth year physics.
K.D. Cole Prize in Physics - Second Year
Awarded to the most outstanding student in second year physics.
