Qualifications:

Brian was the Foundation Professor Philosophy at La Trobe University. He is now a emeritus professor of Philosophy. His longstanding research interests lie in metaphysics and philosophy of science. His current research is concerned with humanism and the philosophy of the welfare state. His latest book The Philosophy of Nature: A Guide to the New Essentialism, was published in 2002.
