Philosophy Program
AAP Conference 2008 - Sunday 6 - Friday 11 July
CALL FOR PAPERS
Papers in any area of philosophy are welcomed. The conference this year features six special SYMPOSIUM STREAMS as well as a number of GENERAL STREAMS. Contributions to the symposium streams are particularly invited. Whether a stream runs or not will depend on the number of papers submitted for it. Proposals for further streams are welcomed and may be created in response to demand.
SYMPOSIUM STREAMS
• Moral Rationalism
• Self-Consciousness
• Roots of Human Evil
• Women’s Rights, Islamism, and Political Correctness
• Corporate Responsibility and Climate Change
• University Bureaucracy and Academic Values
Symposium Structure: 4 speakers x 20 minutes + 30 minutes discussion + tea breaks in between.
Submission of Symposium Papers: All papers submitted to the symposium streams will be refereed. Four papers will be selected for each stream. All selected symposium papers will be published in a collection of conference proceedings. Since each speaker will have only 20 minutes of delivery time, the upper word limit for a paper to be read at a symposium is 3000 words. However, the word limit for the version to be published is 6000 words maximum. Please submit the longer version for consideration.

Submission of Titles and Abstracts: The upper word limit for an abstract is 300 words. There is also a limit of one abstract submission per primary author. Following established AAP practice, we will accept as many offers of papers as possible within the constraints of the conference schedule. The conference organiser, however, are unable to guarantee all papers will be included on the program. All accepted abstracted will be published in the conference program.
DEADLINES FOR SUBMISSION
Titles, abstracts, papers, or proposals for streams other than those listed above, should be sent to philosophy@latrobe.edu.au as early as possible. The following are the final deadlines:
• Papers and abstracts for the symposium streams must be submitted by 15 April 2008.
• Titles and abstracts for the general streams must be submitted by 9 May 2008.
PRESENTERS SHOULD NOTE THE FOLLOWING
• It is likely that there will up to seven or eight parallel streams at the conference, so there is always the chance of a small audience, especially if there is a well known speaker scheduled at the same time as you.
• Arrangements for the chairing of sessions is usually fairly informal. It is frequently the case that speakers request a friend or colleague to chair their session, or else leave it to a member of the audience to volunteer. Please indicate in the registration form if you would like to have the organising committee arrange a chair for you.
• Data-projection facilities are available. But we recommend that you bring your own computer. Please indicate in the registration form if you would need a data projector, a overhead projector, and/or a white board.
