Bachelor of PharmacyThe Bachelor of Pharmacy course at the Bendigo campus was developed to address the serious shortage of pharmacists in regional, rural and remote areas of Australia. The program emphasises patient care, rural health issues and the place of the pharmacist as a member of the primary health care team. Students study subjects in science and public health alongside students in other courses. Graduates will be prepared for employment in community or hospital pharmacies throughout Australia. The course will equip them for work in any pharmacy setting, particularly in smaller population centres, through the provision of a range of subjects including rural health, placements in rural pharmacies and opportunities to forge strong relationships with other health professionals. Apart from these traditional pharmacy work places, graduates will also be qualified and eligible to deliver pharmacy services within the Australian Defence Forces and are eagerly recruited by the pharmaceutical industry. Upon registration with the Pharmacy Board of Victoria, graduates are legally entitled to purchase a pharmacy business. The opportunity also exists for postgraduate research in diverse areas such as pharmacy practice, environmental chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacogenomics, biotechnology and microbiology. MissionOur innovative course will ensure that pharmacy graduates acquire the necessary competencies to practise pharmacy at a high standard in an evolving health care environment and make a positive contribution to the health of the community.
