Palliative Care UnitStaff Profile
BA, BEdSt (Melb), BTheol (MCD), GradDipEdSocSc (Deakin), MAppSc, PhD (La Trobe) Dr. Lindsay Carey holds postgraduate qualifications in education, sociology, health social science, bioethics and pastoral care. He has had twenty years of pastoral care experience and research in parish and chaplaincy settings (including industrial chaplaincy, welfare chaplaincy, health care chaplaincy and defence force chaplaincy). Lindsay's research interests include quantitative and qualitative research, public health, pastoral care, spirituality, palliative and aged care, death and dying, religiosity and health, the sacralization of identity process and occupational epidemiology (particularly regarding chaplaincy). He has served as a Research Fellow for the Caring for Caregivers Program (Victoria), the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Evaluation Program, the Pastoral Care Department of the Northern General and Royal Hallamshire Sheffield Teaching Hospitals (UK) and with the Australian Health & Welfare Chaplains Association. Lindsay has conducted or assisted with pastoral care and chaplaincy evaluations within numerous contexts across Australia and greatly enjoys lecturing and supervising post-graduate students in pastoral care and chaplaincy research projects.
