Orientation Training for New Staff

Welcome to La Trobe University

As a new staff member you have so much to learn and familiarise yourself with. To help you settle into University life we have introduced a structured orientation process to help you feel confident and informed as quickly as possible.

The first important step in understanding your new work organisation is to complete your Online Orientation.

The Online Orientation will take you through the following areas:

• The organisation, it's history, structure, the executive team and the strategic plan
• Your commitment to the University's Code of Conduct and standards of practice
• The performance management, development and review framework
• Employee services and campus facilities
• Safety and wellbeing at work

Completion of Online Orientation is compulsory. The orientation will take approximately half an hour to complete and at the completion of the Online Orientation you will be asked to complete an Assessment.

Site Induction

As a new staff member you will also be required to undertake a site induction with your supervisor. The site induction will introduce you to your workplace and to assist you and your supervisor an induction checklist has been prepared and must be completed.

Performance Management Scheme (IPPPS) — For General Staff at HEO levels 1–9

(Note- General staff are to book into the IPPPS session within the first three (3) months of employment. General staff in a supervisory position should book immediately into an IPPPS session.)
