Work Integrated Learning (WIL)

Teacher-student

Australian employers want, and need, graduates with some experience of the work place.

La Trobe is acutely aware of this fact and through its membership of Innovative Research Universities (IRU) has implemented programs to provide students with adequate workplace experience.

Innovative Research Universities (IRU) together with the The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has developed a program called Work Integrated Learning.

This program includes a range of approaches and a purposefully designed curriculum to enable students to integrate theory with practice in the work environment. Examples of Work Integrated Learning at La Trobe University include:

  • industry-based learning (IBL)
  • internships
  • industry-based projects

As an employer you can gain many advantages by partnering with La Trobe University and showcasing your organisation to students that are studying in areas relevant to your business.

A La Trobe staff member will work with you to develop a mutually beneficial Work Integrated Learning program that takes into account both business and curriculum needs so that students and businesses alike gain maximum benefit.

Partnerships with VECCI
