The TEAMelbourne partnership
La Trobe University is the exclusive higher education partner of TEAMelbourne.
TEAMelbourne is a world first alliance of Melbourne’s premier sporting clubs working together to strengthen business, memberships, partnerships and community relationships.
The five founding member clubs have a passion to set the standard for excellence both on and off the sporting field whilst leveraging Melbourne’s position as the world’s sporting capital.
TEAMelbourne’s founding member clubs are:
- Melbourne Football Club
- Melbourne Racing Club
- Melbourne Storm Rugby League Club
- Melbourne Tigers Basketball Club
- Melbourne Vixens Netball Club
One of TEAMelbourne’s roles is to provide educational and career development opportunities for athletes, staff and students.
La Trobe University has been acknowledged as a leading higher education institution by a range of international organisations in recent years and is the exclusive higher education partner of TEAMelbourne. Of particular relevance to the partnership, La Trobe has a strong tradition of research and courses, ranging from sports physiotherapy and human biosciences to sport and leisure management, sport business and marketing.
A range of activities have been agreed that will bring mutual benefit to both organisations. They include (but are not limited to):
- Joint research projects
- Professional development for staff and athletes of TEAMelbourne clubs
- Study scholarships for staff and athletes of TEAMelbourne clubs
- Work placement opportunities for La Trobe students at TEAMelbourne and its member clubs
- Co-support for community events
