Trainee Test Analyst Job Opportunities

HPE’s Dandelion Program is recruiting people from the Autism Spectrum to be trained and work in the area of software testing based in Canberra.

Successful applicants will perform work for the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Applications are requested to fill these trainee Test Analyst roles.

As a level one Test Analyst you will be part of the HPE Testing Capability and will be trained to perform simple, medium and up to complex software testing activities as assigned by the HPE Dandelion Test Manager.

These roles will suit people with an interest in working with computers, processes and tools to ensure that developed software is fit for purpose and meets the needs of end users both within the department and its clients.

Successful candidates will start by learning and performing key skills required to work in the Department of Home Affairs team.  He/she will also undergo training over time to be able to perform other more complex software testing related tasks.

The candidate:

  • Must have a diagnosis of ASD
  • Must be aged 18 years or over
  • Must have Australian Citizenship
  • Will have to satisfy the suitability requirements of the Department of Immigration and  Border Protection and Baseline security checks
  • Must be able to attend the entire 4 week assessment phase, which is paid
  • Should live within an easy daily commutable distance of Belconnen, ACT

Holding a tertiary qualification in a technical or business area is desirable, but not a prerequisite. If there is some experience in skills such as software testing, business analysis, computer programming, data analysis, or similar IT oriented tasks, this would be highly regarded, but not a prerequisite. The person must have a strong interest in learning and performing IT related tasks.

Following the completion of these steps the applicant will expect to:

  • Receive an acknowledgment of receipt of application within 24 hours, during normal working days
  • By 11th November 2016 be informed whether his/her application has been confirmed, held for consideration for future opportunities or declined

Applications should therefore be submitted by 9th November 2016 at the latest!

Selection Process:

If the application has been confirmed, the candidate will be invited to a one day Workshop (the duration of the Workshop is about 6 hours). The Workshop is expected to be held in the period from 14th to 16th November 2016.  The Workshop is designed to measure aptitude and logical thinking and will determine those people that can attend the detailed 4 week assessment.

The candidates who attend the Workshop should be prepared to start the paid 4 week assessment on 21st November 2016 if selected.

The candidates invited for the assessment program will receive confirmation by 17th November 2016; or a notice whether their application has been held for consideration for future opportunities or declined.

The 4 weeks assessment is planned to start Monday 21st November and to end Friday 16th December.

After the assessment successful candidates will by 21st December be offered a level one Test Analyst job with HPE with 6th February 2017 as starting day. Candidates not offered a job at this stage will either have their details and results held for consideration for future opportunities or declined. Specialisterne Australia will meet with unsuccessful candidates after the assessment is complete and work with them to identify other training or employment options.
