OTARC are seeking participants in the following studies.

Tertiary Student study

Are you a family member of a tertiary student with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, or PDDNOS)?
University and TAFE life can be challenging and stressful for any student. The aim of this study is to understand the support needs of students with ASD who are enrolled in tertiary study.
We would love to hear from you if you do not mind sharing your thoughts on the educational needs of your child!

Are you a student enrolled at a Victorian TAFE or university and have an Autism Spectrum Disorder (Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, or PDDNOS)?
University and TAFE life can be challenging and stressful for any student. The aim of this study is to understand the support needs of students with ASD who are enrolled in tertiary study.

Language Processing in Children with Autism

This study is investigating how children with high-functioning-autism process language, and what factors influence language processing. It will also investigate development in language processing after one year.

  • Children 5 – 7 years old
  • Typically Developing
  • Asperger’s Disorder or HigH Functioning Autism

(also Autism/Autistic Disorder, ASD with good verbal skills)

What’s involved:
One two-hour session which will include:

  • Language assessment
  • Non-verbal cognitive assessment
  • Eye-tracking tasks

Parents will receive a written report of the assessments

Community Service Providers' Views & Practices study

Are you a community service provider with experience working with individuals/families with ASD (any professional background)?
We are keen to hear about the experiences of a range of different professionals working with individual with ASDs and/or their families, particularly regarding the topic of language. Participants would be interviewed for around 30 minutes, at a convenient time and location, or by phone.
