EccVue

EccVue is a software package designed to assist people with loss of macular vision to eccentrically view. Loss of macular vision is very debilitating as this results in loss of our highest quality vision. Tasks such as reading, or seeing the detail of a persons face become difficult if not impossible. Eccentric viewing is a technique where by a person with loss of macular vision is taught to use an adjacent undamaged area of the retina, that is the person looks "away from centre" or eccentrically. The technique is difficult to learn and needs to be carefully taught if it is to be effective. EccVue provides training exercises to teach the person in easy stages how to redirect their gaze in the most effective way and how to maintain that viewing position.
