Learning Management System (LMS)

Housekeeping

The Primary Designer of a unit in the LMS has a number of responsibilities.  These incorporate adding staff and ensuring that your students can obtain access. Applying to populate the LMS database with student data should be done at least two weeks prior to the commencement of the teaching period.

All administrative tasks can be undertaken at the
LMS/WebCT Administration
site.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Resetting the unit.  Resetting a unit removes all student data and student interaction with the Learning Management System.  You will need to do this to prepare your unit for new students in the next teaching period.   Resetting the unit also creates a backup which can be restored by LMS Administrators if necessary.
  • Making and archiving regular backups of the unit.   If you want to make significant design or content changes, you may want to back up your unit so that it can be restored if the changes are not suitable. You will also want to back up and archive your unit at the end of each teaching period, resetting the unit will create a backup for you.
