Welcome to the Division of Nursing and Midwifery at La Trobe University. The Division is one the oldest providers of high level nurse education in Australia and traces its origins back to the College of Nursing formed in 1948.
This extensive history has enabled the Division to develop a wide range of international links and to establish a tradition of innovation, excellence and dynamism in nursing research and nursing education. We were one of the the first universities to offer a double degree - Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Midwifery in Australia. We were the first university to offer a four year nursing degree and we are also one of the first universities to offer a mental health major in our Bachelor of Nursing.
