One-to-one midwifery aims to cut complications
The work of Dr Helen McLachlan features prominently in various media outlets today. Dr McLachlan is the chief investigator in a trial research project that will match each mother with a midwife. The aim is to cut rates of caesarean sections and induced labour, and provide mothers with more support for breastfeeding and postnatal depression.

The project is entitled ‘Caseload midwifery for women at low risk of medical complications: a randomised controlled trial’. Dr McLachlan will lead a $583, 125 project to be carried out by a multi national team over three years.
