Post graduate Nursing Scholarships - Semester 1 2008
The Department of Human Services Victoria are pleased to announce that the Nurse Policy Branch Postgraduate Nursing Scholarships for Semester 1 2008 will open for applications on Saturday 17 November 2007. Closing date for applications is Monday 10 December 2007.
A flyer is attached for distribution to relevant course coordinators and interested course applicants.
As part of the Government’s ongoing commitment to nursing, the Victorian Department of Human Services is again offering a limited number of scholarships to registered nurses undertaking postgraduate nursing courses in Semester 1, 2008 in the following target areas of practice:
- Aged Care
- Perioperative
- Midwifery
- Renal
- Mental health
- Critical Care (including adult and paediatric intensive care, coronary care, and emergency)
- Neonatal Intensive Care
- Nurse Practitioner
- Clinical Teaching & Preceptor Preparation
- Maternal and Child Health
Please note that this time we are offering scholarships in clinical teaching/preceptor preparation in the interests of building capacity and capability in our public health services in this increasingly important area.
Maternal and Child Health Nurse Scholarships are funded by the Office for Children, Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
Value
Scholarships are for $3000 and are a contribution toward the costs associated with postgraduate study.
Criteria
Applications are assessed according to key selection criteria. Criteria include but are not limited to the applicant’s ability to demonstrate the
following:
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency;
- current residency in Victoria;
- registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria;
- employment in the Victorian Public health sector;
- commencing an award course provided by a University;
- commitment to the target area of practice for which the scholarship is sought;
- intention to continue practice in the clinical area following completion of the course;
- Organisational/employer support
There are some changes to the application requirements for this round, so applicants are advised to read the Guidelines carefully.
