Academic background

Professor Annette Street has an international reputation in health care and nursing research. She holds an Adjunct Professorial position at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden and has conducted research consultancies throughout Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Canada, Thailand, the UK and in the USA.

Professor Street is widely published with over 100 current publications- books, chapters and peer-reviewed articles. Her research books "Inside Nursing" and "Nursing Replay", along with other published monographs, are used in graduate programs in nursing and education in Asian & English speaking countries.

Research interests

Professor Street's research interests are primarily focused in healthy ageing and a health promoting approach to palliative and supportive care, specifically around end of life care, psycho-oncology and communication in cancer care. She provides leadership to a number of multi-disciplinary, multi-method research teams. Current projects investigate community-based advance care planning, cancer support groups, cancer narratives, psycho-social, symptom and educational interventions in prostate care, with a particular focus on community and rural contexts.

Professional activities

Professor Street is a highly successful supervisor of doctoral students and serves on a number of university, division, professional and community committees and Reference Groups, some of which she is the Chair. She is also widely involved in the examination of theses and the review of manuscripts for publications, whilst serving on various editorial boards and review boards.
