Nursing Background:
Alan has come to La Trobe Nursing Studies Unit from an extensive clinical background. He has been employed predominantly in mental health areas having worked in Aged, Adult, Child and Adolescent services as well as Alcohol and Drug services. Alan's research interests include housing for persons with severe mental illness, alcohol related road trauma and dual diagnosis.

This study utilises grounded theory to examine the effects of deinstitutionalisation on persons suffering from severe mental illness. - Length of Clinical Placements as an indicator for uptake of Psychiatric Nursing (Robins, A. & Happell, B.)
