IAS Postgraduate Writing Up Award
The IASPWA scheme is designed to support doctoral candidates who, having submitted their thesis, wish to write up some of their research findings for publication while they await the result of their examination.
- February 29 2008. Postgraduate doctoral research students who submit or expect to submit their thesis between January 28 and April 11 2008 are eligible to apply.
- May 30 2008. Postgraduate doctoral research students who submit or expect to submit their thesis between April 14 and July 11 2008 are eligible to apply.
- August 29, 2008. Postgraduate doctoral research students who submit or expect to submit their thesis between July 14 and October 10, 2008 are eligible to apply.
- November 28, 2008. Postgraduate doctoral research students who submit or expect to submit their thesis between October 13, 2008 and January 26, 2009 are eligible to apply.

POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS IN SPECIALTY NURSING COURSES
Nurses undertaking postgraduate study in the targeted specialties are invited to apply to the Nurse Policy Branch for scholarship funding.
The targeted nursing specialties are:
- Aged Care
- Neonatal Intensive Care
- Maternal & Child Health
- Midwifery (preference to applicants with a demonstrated commitment to rural practice)
- Critical Care (including intensive care, coronary care, and emergency nursing)
- Peri-operative
- Mental Health
- Nurse Practitioner Masters programs.
AWARD: Scholarships will be made available for an amount of up to $3,000 as a contribution towards course fees.
DURATION: Scholarship funding is granted for a 12 month period only.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia; provide evidence of current Nurses Board of Victoria registration in the relevant division of the Register (maternal & child health applicants must also demonstrate midwifery notation); and be currently practicing or seeking employment in the Victorian public health sector.
It is not a requirement that students be enrolled at the time of submitting the application for scholarship funding however it is necessary to provide details of pending enrolment.
All courses must provide an award qualification by a university. Preference will be given to students undertaking graduate certificate level studies. Master level studies must be clinically based and will be considered on a case by case basis. Students applying for a nurse practitioner scholarship must be undertaking a clinical masters program, a nurse practitioner masters, a therapeutic medication management module or equivalent units of study for nurse practitioner preparation.
Applications from students who have been able to secure a Commonwealth Supported Place
(previously known as HECS funding) will be considered on an individual basis, however preference will be given to students in full fee paying places.
Students who currently hold an award qualification in the specialty area of practice for which the scholarship is being sought are ineligible.

ROYAL COLLEGE OF NURSING, AUSTRALIA (RCNA) SCHOLARSHIPS
- Annie M Sage Memorial Scholarship ($10,000) for postgraduate research studies in nursing at an Australian University.
- Joyce Wickham Memorial Scholarship ($5,000) for doctoral studies in nursing at an Australian University.
- Myrtle Ivy Quicke Memorial Scholarship ($10,000) for doctoral or postdoctoral studies in nursing at an Australian University.
- Florence Nightingale Memorial Scholarship ($10,000) for doctoral or postdoctoral studies in an Australian higher education institution.
- Bequest Fund for Research (Vic only) ($10,000) for postgraduate research studies in nursing at an Australian University and only for nurses practicing in Victoria. Nurses engaged in clinical research are particularly encouraged to apply.
- Centaur Nurses Memorial Education Scholarship (Vic only) ($5,000) for postgraduate research studies in nursing at an Australian University and only for Div 1 and Div 3 nurses practicing in Victoria.

As a living memorial to those nurses who served and died in WWII the Nurses Memorial Centre offers education grants to nurses in Victoria.
Nurses are invited to apply for Post-Graduate/Post-Basic Education Grants for studies being undertaken to enhance nursing knowledge and skills. Proposals for assistance with other nursing projects may also be considered by Council.
The Nurses Memorial Centre will select applicants by interview and selection criteria based on potential benefit to patient care and the nursing profession. Applications close 31/10/2006

AUSTRALIAN PRACTICE NURSES ASSOCIATION
The Australian Government has funded the following scholarships available to nurses currently working in General Practice;
- $900 for immunisation training/education
- $500 for wound management training/education
- $1,200 for pap smear training/education
- $900 for diabetes management training/education
- $900 for chronic disease management training/education
- $900 for mental health training/education
- $900 for asthma training/education
- $900 for cardiovascular care including cholesterol management training/education
- $900 for obesity, food and nutrition training/education
- $900 for clinical assessment training/education
RURAL HEALTH SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION FOR VICTORIA
- Postgraduate level nursing scholarship – for nurses who have commenced a post-registration degree or post-graduate studies (Up to $5,000).
- Postgraduate level indigenous nursing scholarship – for indigenous rural nurses who have enrolled in a post-registration degree or postgraduate studies may apply for a scholarship to cover the full period of their course up to a maximum of three full time years.
THE AUSTRALASIAN UROLOGICAL NURSES SOCIETY
- The Coloplast Scholarship – x3 scholarships worth $2,000 each for nurses working in Continence/Urology
THE ENDOCRINE NURSES’ SOCIETY OF AUST
- The Eli Lilly ENSA Nursing Research Grant - to assist in the study of endocrinology nursing
- International travel scholarship (up to $2,500) to assist with travel to attend international endocrine conference.
