NSG4NPC Prostate Care Nursing
The objective of this unit is to develop a network of nurses across Australia who have a broad understanding of prostate problems and the knowledge and skills to support men from diagnosis through to palliative care, if that should be the outcome. We expect that you will become part of this network and keep your knowledge up to date. An important part of your role will be to encourage and support other nurses who are caring for men with prostate cancer.
During your study you will acquire an understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the prostate as well as the pathophysiology, aetiology and treatment of prostate disease including prostate cancer. You will also be encouraged to address and expand your psychosocial skills for counselling men with prostate cancer and explore and understand the dilemmas men experience when diagnosed.
