Student Awards
Every year the Division awards a number of prizes to students from each of the campuses. The complete list of prizes is provided below.
Albury-Wodonga
Albury-Wodonga Private Hospital Prize
Awarded to the most outstanding first-year student in nursing. The prize is a $500 cheque.
Elsevier Undergraduate Academic Achievement Award
Awarded to a pre-registration Bachelor of Nursing student who, through a book review of between 750 and 1000 words, can demonstrate critical thinking skills and provides student feedback and user critiquing. The prize is a $150 book voucher.
Kerry Faul Memorial Prize – Wodonga West Rotary Club
Awarded for academic distinction and demonstrated commitment to high quality nursing. The prize is a $1000 cheque.
Royal College of Nursing Australia High Achiever Award
Awarded to the student with the best academic result for the final year in nursing. The prize is one year’s membership to the RCNA.
Wodonga Regional Health Services Prize
Awarded to the most outstanding second-year student in nursing. The prize is a $300 cheque.
Bendigo
History of Nursing Prize
Awarded to student who submit the highest marked assignment in the each of the following units :
- 1st year – Nursing Art and Science,
- 2nd Year – Law, Ethics & Accountability for Nurses
- 3rd Year – Nursing the Future
Royal College of Nursing Australia, High Achiever Award
Awarded to a final year student of an undergraduate nursing program who demonstrates outstanding academic and clinical performance during the course
Cliveden Hill Private Hospital Award
Awarded to the student who displays outstanding clinical skills and commitment, whilst undertaking clinical placement at Cliveden Hill Private Hospital.
Northern District School of Nursing Graduates’ Association Award
Awarded to final year students of an undergraduate nursing program who successfully completed all units in the first and second years of the course and who has displayed outstanding academic achievement in the final year of the course
Zonta Club : Heather Winderlich Award
Awarded to a final year student of an undergraduate nursing course who displays outstanding academic achievement over the duration of their course.
Bendigo Health Care Group Award
Awarded to the full-time student of an undergraduate nursing program who displays outstanding academic achievement in the unit NSG2MHL Mental Health Nursing
Julie MacDonald Excellence Award
Awarded to a completing student of the postgraduate critical care nursing, emergency nursing, or cardiac nursing course offered at Bendigo and whose clinical placement has been conducted through Bendigo Health Care Group. The award shall be made to the student who displays outstanding achievement in both clinical and theory assessments, as well as a commitment to the professional development of colleagues.
Bundoora
Cancer Council Victoria
Prize: Cheque for $200
Awarded to the student who has shown outstanding success in cancer nursing or palliative care nursing at postgraduate level.
Joyce Wickham Medal
Prize: Medal
Awarded to a postgraduate student when there is a candidate of sufficient merit. Any or all of the following:
- instituted documented changes in practice in their work context;
- published paper(s) in a journal;
- presented paper(s) poster(s) at conferences or informal paper(s) at workplace;
- produced a pamphlet or document or protocol for staff or patient education;
- undertaken research or evidence of planning research;
- involved in further study.
Royal College of Nursing, Australia High Achiever Award
Prize: One year membership to the College and certificate
Awarded to the highest achieving student in the final year of the Bachelor of Nursing (pre-registration) course.
Royal College of Nursing, Gerontic Nursing Prize
Prize: One year membership to the college and certificate
Awarded to the student who maintains the highest average for all pieces of work submitted for the Postgraduate Diploma of Advanced Nursing (Gerontic Nursing).
Alzheimer’s Australia Vic Prize
Prize: Cheque for $200
Awarded to the student enrolled in the gerontic nursing major within the Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Nursing, who attains the highest mark for the subject Geropsychiatric Nursing and who demonstrates an understanding of the needs of people with a dementing illness and their carers, and how to provide best practice for them.
Royal Women's Hospital Midwifery Student Research Award
Prize: Cheque for $1,000
Awarded to the midwifery student or recent graduate to support presentation of research findings at an international or national conference.
Villa Maria Society Aged Care Prize
Prize: Cheque for $500
Awarded to the student enrolled in an undergraduate nursing course at the Bundoora Campus who has shown particular skills and interest in the area of aged care.
Elsevier Gerontic Nursing Clinical Practice Prize
Prize: $100 Book voucher (3 years only, 2006,2007 & 2008)
Awarded to the final year nursing student in the Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing Science who has demonstrated excellence in gerontic nursing clinical practice.
Elsevier Excellence in the Care of Older People Prize
Prize: $100 Book voucher (3 years only, 2006,2007 & 2008)
Awarded to the first year nursing student in the Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing Science who has excelled in the care of older people.
Caroline Pippett Memorial Prize
Prize: Cheque for $300 and $200 book voucher
Awarded to the final year metropolitan undergraduate nursing student who clearly demonstrates a loving and caring attitude towards patients.
