Welcome to the La Trobe/Alfred Clinical School of Nursing
The Clinical School is a collaborative endeavour between The Alfred and La Trobe University that offers enormous capacity for advancing the profession of nursing. The Clinical School allows the combination of resources of academic and clinical practice fields into an entity which transcends both, and provides unprecedented opportunities to integrate the full range of activities. It encourages the exchange of ideas and provides a continuum between theoretical concepts and clinical practice at all levels. The Division of Nursing and Midwifery, La Trobe University and The Alfred have a history of collaboration and cooperation going back many years.
The broad objectives of the Clinical School are to:
- Promote interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaboration in health care delivery and research.
- Establish a reputation as a leader in acute nursing research.
- Establish a leading centre for honours and postgraduate research in acute nursing.
- Establish a centre of excellence for undergraduate and postgraduate education in acute nursing.
- Play a major role in the ongoing conduct of continuing education activities at The Alfred.
