I am a graduate of the Division of Nursing & Midwifery and I would like to register to practice overseas. The overseas registration body requires details of my course. What is the process for getting this inofrmation from the Division?
As part of most International Registrations, the Division of Nursing and Midwifery is required to complete and certify part of the application.
The actual forms received by the Division vary depending upon which country past graduates are applying for registration in, but generally the forms are titled Transcript of Training/Educational Breakdown, or something similar.
The standard purpose of these forms is to provide information regarding the number of theoretical and clinical hours that a past graduate completed in a variety of areas, but they can also require further information, such as confirmation of enrolment dates, further academic information, or more detailed information regarding clinical practice completed by the past graduate.
The Division charges a fee of $AUD110.00 for this service payable by cheque, money order or credit card. This is to cover the cost of the Division’s time and resources, and also the cost of couriering the completed papers to the relevant body.
The process for past graduates applying for International Registration is as follows:
- Forward the appropriate forms (obtained from either the registering authority or an agency) to the relevant campus for which you completed your studies (see campus details below), along with a cheque, money order or credit card authorisation for $AUD110.00. The applicant (past graduate) will also need to provide a current mailing address;
- Cheques or Money Orders should be made payable to ‘Division of Nursing and Midwifery’. Applicants wishing to pay by credit card are required to provide the relevant campus with written authorisation including the name stated on the credit card, credit card number, expiry date and signature approving $AUD110.00 for the purpose of International Registration – this should be received at the time of application;
- The Division will then, using the student’s file, our unit database, and other references, complete the relevant forms and put together a package. The package will consist of the completed forms provided by the applicant, an official transcript provided by the Division, and some further information on the Division’s clinical and theoretical programs;
- The originals will then be sent to the registering authority via international courier, and a copy will be sent to the applicant at the address supplied. A second copy will be kept on file at the Division.
It should be noted that applications received without payment will be returned to the applicant, requesting that payment be sent in along with the application in order to permit the application to be processed.
Please be aware that it will normally take approximately 2 weeks for the process to be completed and paperwork to reach the registering authorities however it can take longer depending on the complexity of the application and also the location of the registering authority. Applicants are strongly advised to submit requests for International Registration as soon as possible and where possible to permit at least 4 weeks from time of the Division’s receipt to the date by which the registering authority receives the application.
