Reorganisation of National Centre for Hellenic Studies and Research

On 20 October 2008, the La Trobe University Council resolved unanimously that the National Centre for Hellenic Studies and Research (NCHSR) be wound up and replaced with a new centre for Hellenic Studies to be known as the Research Centre for Contemporary Greek Studies located within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and that the Vice-Chancellor take the necessary steps to give effect to this winding up of the Centre's operations (including reaching agreement, as required, with the Society in relation to matters related to the winding up).

Council further resolved unanimously that the allocation of the buildings presently occupied by the Centre be reviewed and delegated the undertaking of that review and the re-allocation of those buildings (as appropriate) to the Vice-Chancellor.

The National Centre for Hellenic Studies and Research closed on 31 December 2008. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is currently in the process of establishing the new Centre for Contemporary Greek Studies and further details will be available here shortly.
