Our World, our future
Explore the importance of finding your passion in life and how you can share these with others to create a lifetime of opportunities and success. Join Darcy as he reflects back on the moments after secondary school, the confusion and challenges of which he faced, not knowing where to go or what to do next.
As Darcy recounts his personal experiences, find out what drives you and how you too can pursue your dreams.
Profit for purpose - solving the world's problems through business
Create a win-win situation for the environment, the community and business. In the business world 'doing something good' and 'giving back' is often reflected through charity and donation – activities that are extremely valuable but nevertheless a scrutinised cost to a business. A new movement is arising - one that sees businesses becoming more sustainable, profitable and competitive by addressing environmental concerns or social disadvantage.
Find out how Helen is working with businesses to solve such issues, including the work of Carrotmob - a flash mob style event that has created 'win-win' situations for business and the environment in Melbourne. Be inspired by businesses that make 'doing something good' their profit centre and learn more about what it means to be a social entrepreneur.
Life without borders - creating a career with impact
An adventure traveller, Julian O'Shea (SA Young Australian of the Year, 2014) has visited over 100 countries across six continents; set a Guinness World Record for a 3,700+ km rail journey across China; and has travelled across the Asian continent from Thailand to Turkey without taking a single flight.
Julian will share his experiences working for Engineers Without Borders and as a social innovator. His diverse career has seen him involved with solar installation projects in Mexico; educational initiatives in India; and a water supply project in Timor Leste. Through the 'Life without Borders' workshop, he will provide practical skills on how to craft an exciting career that also makes the world a better place.
