Hanoi graduates mark La Trobe learning

Each year La Trobe University holds a graduation ceremony in Vietnam to confer degrees and diplomas on students enrolled in our programs delivered at Hanoi University.

This year proved one of our most successful, with 144 students proudly graduating (Diploma of Business – 38, Bachelor of Business – 48, Master of Business Administration – 58)

New Pro Vice-Chancellor, College of Arts, Social Sciences and Commerce, Professor Anthony McGrew, Professor Amalia Di Iorio and Professor Paul Mather congratulated the students on their achievement.

The international academic collaboration between La Trobe and Hanoi Universities has come a long way since La Trobe opened its doors on 8 March 1967 and only one student from Vietnam was amongst the first cohort of students.

In 1996 the University commenced cooperation with Vietnam National University for the in-country delivery of the Master of Applied Linguistics and subsequently for the Doctor of Education.  This program concluded in 2013.

By 2001, the Vietnamese student population enrolled in Australia at La Trobe was only eight and a plan was developed to expand links and cooperation in Vietnam.  The collaboration commenced with the then Hanoi University of Foreign Studies (now Hanoi University) which invited La Trobe to assist them meet training obligations by delivering programs on their campus.

A successful offshore program was developed with Foreign Trade University which provided for students to complete their studies in Australia.

La Trobe University is also pleased to welcome many AusAID and other partially sponsored students to its campuses from across Vietnam.
