GV Health and Latrobe University are pleased to announce the conjoint appointment of Rebecca Brisbane as a Lecturer Practitioner at La Trobe University Shepparton Campus.
Rebecca will continue to work as a paediatric nurse and in the nursing education team for GV Health, and will now teach in the Bachelor of Nursing course focusing on the application of theory and clinical practice application.
La Trobe's Head of Department of Rural Nursing & Midwifery, Dr Les Fitzgerald, said the appointment will foster graduate nurses who are fully prepared for the workforce and able to deliver high quality contemporary health care to their patients.
"We are consistently increasing the competency levels of our graduates in response to the changing health care system. These sorts of positions cement the relationship between our health services and the University, which then benefits the community of Shepparton," Dr Fitzgerald said.
"Lecturer Practitioner roles are an important part of the future of nurse education at La Trobe University and Rebecca will apply her specialised expertise in helping students learn the complexities of nursing. "Students will not only have an expert practitioner as a role model, they will also receive contemporary, up-to-date information from someone who is at the top of their field."
Dr Carole Maddison, Director Nursing & Midwifery, Practice, Education & Research, said GV Health is excited about this new partnership agreement with La Trobe University.
"The creation of this as a new shared position will provide new career pathways for GV Health staff and will ensure the ongoing credibility and skills of undergraduate nursing students," Dr Maddison said.
