Professor Richard Speed, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Regional) said the sport stars would meet with staff and students from the Bachelor of Business (Sports Development and Management) course.
‘This course focuses on grassroots and high performance sport, so the visit is an opportunity for students to gain a unique insight into the operation of a local sporting organisation achieving outstanding results on the national stage.’
Professor Speed said that both players were important role models who could give valuable insights into what it takes to perform and succeed at the pinnacle of elite sport.
‘We ask our students to pursue ideas and excellence with energy. We ask them to hold themselves accountable for making great things happen. Gabe and Kelsey are exceptional young women who live and breathe values that all of us should aspire to.’
Professor Speed said that La Trobe University is committed to making a substantial contribution to the ongoing sustainability of the Australian sports industry.
‘We are proud to partner with the Bendigo Spirit. This is an excellent partnership supporting women competing in sport at a national level.’
La Trobe University has sponsored the Bendigo Spirit since its inception in 2007.
