Head of Bendigo Campus Robert Stephenson said that O-Week was an opportunity to welcome new students to Bendigo.
‘Our course offerings attract students from across Australia and around the world. This will be their home for the duration of their studies and O-Week is the perfect time to introduce them to our city.’
This year’s O-Week will take place between Tuesday 25 and Friday 28 February.
A range of activities and information sessions on life and study at the University will feature during the week, beginning on Tuesday with an official Civic Welcome from City of Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr Barry Lyons, President of the Bendigo Student Association (BSA) Jessica Robertson and Mr Stephenson.
Tuesday is also market day at which students can get acquainted with the many clubs and societies on campus, local sporting and community groups and businesses providing services to students.
The BSA will provide free lunches for students throughout O-Week, as well as social functions such as a performance by rising music star Will Sparks at the O-Week Glow Party.
Mr Stephenson said that 2014 will be an exciting year for the University, which is steadily expanding its presence in Bendigo with new courses designed to respond to community need. These include Paramedic Practice/Public Health Promotion, Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology, Business (Sport Development and Management), Event Management/Marketing, Exercise Science and Public Health Promotion.
New students are encouraged to build their own personalised orientation plan or download the La Trobe University smartphone orientation app here.
