The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor and the La Trobe Institute for Social and Environmental Sustainability are delighted to announce a new partnership between La Trobe University and Greening Australia (Victoria). You can find them at the Victorian AgriBiosciences Centre, in the R&D Park at the Melbourne Campus.
Greening Australia activities include revegetation and bush regeneration, landscaping, weed control and direct seeding. The organisation collects identifies and supplies seed, and, most importantly, provides education and training. Greening Australia is a not for profit business and engages in projects addressing business administration, commercialisation, research and development activity and governance issues.
The partnership is working to develop research collaborations, identify opportunities for teaching and learning, and provide a range of education and community services, overseen by a partnership advisory committee.
Greening Australia CEO, Gary Topp: ‘We are delighted to have the opportunity to relocate to the Victorian AgriBiosciences Centre at La Trobe’s Melbourne Campus and look forward to the chance to develop an ongoing and beneficial relationship with the University’.
The University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor (Sustainability) Professor Carol Adams welcomed the Greening Australia staff to La Trobe. ‘We have the utmost respect for the work done by Greening Australia and believe that having them in close proximity to our sustainability initiatives can only be beneficial for both the University and for Greening Australia and assist in our transformative agenda, making a difference on key issues. ‘
The University’s Department of Botany, Community Planning and Development Program in Bendigo and Wildlife Sanctuary are already talking with Greening Australia around areas where they might work together.
