Dr Sue Shepherd joins La Trobe
Dr Sue Shepherd has commenced work in the Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition in the Faculty of Health Sciences at La Trobe University.
She takes up the position of senior lecturer in dietetics and human nutrition, and will teach in the areas of food law, food labelling and food technology, and medical nutrition therapy in gastro-intestinal disorders.
Her research will be focusing on nutrition and the gut, including Coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and nutrition and cognitive function.
Dr Shepherd is the developer of the Low FODMAP diet – a dietary management approach with has revolutionised the management of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Dr Shepherd is the director of Shepherd Works, a dietitian practice which specializes in adult and paediatric patients who have a range of gastro-intestinal conditions. She is also the author of seven cookbooks, including the award winning ‘Gluten Free Cooking’.
