Carpooling system introduced at La Trobe
This year La Trobe is introducing an improved carpooling system that’s available at each of its campuses.
Designed for staff, students and the wider La Trobe community the system co-ordinates carpooling for each campus and is available to guests who are visiting the University. So with members from all around its community it’s easy to find someone who works in your building, lives close to you, and has similar working hours.
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Sustainability) Professor Carol Adams said the carpooling initiative was one of a number of sustainability initiatives at the University, ‘The new system allows us to be accessible to students from all over Melbourne while being considerate of our environment and reducing travel costs for our students, which is of great significance to both us and our community.’
Part of an ongoing commitment by the University to reduce its environmental footprint, all staff and students are being urged to register for the chance to win a Kindle Touch E-Reader and help build a strong carpooling community.
A cheap and environmentally friendly way to travel, the University also allocates all green painted car parks specifically for its members, saving time on those busy semester days.
Register before March 9 and all new members will go into the draw to win a Kindle Touch. All you have to do is go to the website, register as a member and log your journey to go in the draw! *
The new system allows users to:
- Easily register their travel details to find matches
- Automated matching system (no waiting)
- Organise carpooling through an internal messaging system
- Provides multiple matches along multiple routes, giving you more options, more often
*Competition closes Friday 9th of March at 10am. The winner will be chosen at random from the list of registered users who have input a journey and will be notified by email.
