Mums invited to have photo taken
Two third year photography students at La Trobe University are inviting mums of all ages to have their photo taken on Sunday 7 August to form part of an upcoming exhibition.
This exhibition entitled Imagining and Imaging Mums is a combination of work by photographic artists Sharon Greenaway and Christine Sayer.
Sharon’s work takes an ethereal look at mothers as people in their own right using clothing and personal belongings to convey emotion. Sharon’s work is a tribute to her own mother as she endeavours to glimpse into the persona of the woman whom she knew as ‘Mum.’
Christine Sayer’s portraits endeavour to capture the essence of motherhood, depicting mothers in various stages from early on to elderly. Christine’s portraits complement well with Sharon’s ethereal images.
The two photographers will be taking portraits of mothers on Sunday the 7 August and the images will then form part of the exhibition. There will also be the opportunity to buy a CD of the image to take away, or to order prints on the day.
The exhibition is supported by the Dudley House Community Arts, City of Greater Bendigo and will be opened by renowned photographer and La Trobe photography lecturer, Donna Bailey
