La Trobe Lifeskills is one of Victoria’s leading providers of nationally recognised courses for young people with disabilities and impairments, offering innovative and creative programs in developing and maximising independent living skills, as well as educational, artistic and sporting activities, both on the campus and in the community.
The exhibition, Touching the Surface, will be opened at 5.30pm on Tuesday, 4 September by Zoe Snyder, Artist and Director of Karingallery, Geelong. Karingallery provides a space for artists with disabilities to produce and exhibit their work.
Touching the Surface showcases the work of students involved in the Lifeskills’ art program. The exhibition is described as ‘a visual and tactile experience that incorporates the use of mosaic, textile, collage and mixed media. Through exploration artists experiment, play and discover endless opportunities to express the meaning of surface’.
