Kent FarrellThe Brisbane-born educator has a strong background in yield management research – a specialist field relevant to optimising capacity and profitability, especially for tourism and transport industries.

Mr Farrell’s academic career has taken him to the UK and the United Arab Emirates where he is currently Deputy Director and Head of Academic Programmes at Middlesex University in Dubai.

His responsibilities there involve managing academic staff and education programs across four faculties and participating in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and assessment activities. They also include identifying changing markets and promoting the development of new programs and contributing to staff development.

From 2004 to 2005 he was Director for Short Course Development and Senior Enterprise Fellow at the Institute for Entrepreneurship (IfE) for the University of Southampton’s School of Management in the UK.

From 2001 to 2004 he was Continuing Education Coordinator and Adjunct Lecturer, Undergraduate Program, at Fujairah Women’s College/Dubai Men’s College, Higher Colleges of Technology, also in the United Arab Emirates.

Mr Farrell was Deputy Head and Undergraduate Course Director in the Faculty of Business and Economics at Monash University’s Gippsland Campus from 1998 to 2001.

From 1994 to 1999 he was Lecturer in Marketing and Open Learning Coordinator, Faculty of Business and Law, in the School of Marketing & Tourism at Central Queensland University.

Mr Farrell previously held posts in marketing management, media sales and promotions in Queensland’s radio industry, which followed an earlier career as an officer in the Queensland and New South Wales Police departments and, during the 1970s, with the Department of Defence (Army).

Mr Farrell holds a Master of Education (MEd) from the University of Southern Queensland, majoring in leadership and management, and is now is working towards a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

He has two Bachelor of Arts degrees: a First Class Honours research degree from Central Queensland University, majoring in business, and a BA from the University of Southern Queensland, specialising in journalism, public relations and business administration.
