News and Events

Our thoughts go out to the injured student and her family and we are doing everything possible to support them through this difficult time.  This message of support comes from myself, the University Council and the entire University community.

For staff and students who feel they need to talk to someone, the University offers counselling services on all campuses.

The situation yesterday resulted in our emergency security procedures being enacted. Within two minutes of being notified, security staff were on site and dealing with the incident.  Police and ambulance followed promptly.

In addition to emergency security procedures, the University has a series of everyday security procedures and protocols.  These include well-lit walkways, a 24 hour security number, surveillance cameras and a regular campus bus service that also provides added security for after hours movement around campus.

I’d like to personally thank the staff, students, security, ambulance and police personnel for managing a very difficult situation.

Classes and research continue at La Trobe today as normal.  However, our thoughts are with the injured student and her family.
