Rae Alexander Art History Lecture

The La Trobe University Alumni Art History Chapter and National Gallery of Victoria will present the Eighth Annual Rae Alexander Lecture on Tuesday 15 November 2005.

The lecture: ‘Margaret Preston: Art and Life (The artist’s artist)’ will be delivered by Geoffrey Smith, Curator of Australian Art (20th Century), National Galley of Victoria.

It will be held at NGV International, 180 St Kilda Road, North Entrance, 7.30pm (6.30pm for pre-lecture drinks.)

The lecture will focus on the life of one of Australia’s most celebrated artists and present an introduction to the major exhibition, ‘Margaret Preston: Art and Life’, to be shown at the Ian Potter Centre: National Gallery of Victoria Australia at Federation Square from 12 November 2005 to 29 January 2006.

This will be the most extensive exhibition ever presented of Margaret Preston’s art, with more than 180 works including paintings, prints, pottery, textiles and previously unseen archival material relating to Preston’s colourful life.

Tickets are: Art History Alumni $25; Non Members $30; Full time students $15. Please note there will be no ticket sales at the door.
