Getting us better at getting older
Australia’s experts on making it better for us as we grow older gather at
La Trobe University tomorrow (14 July).
Called the Invited Workshop/ Think Tank on Interventions for Older People, the two-day event has been funded by the Australian Research Council and the National Health and Medical Research Council Research Network in Ageing Well.
According to the convenor of the event, La Trobe’s Associate Professor Colette Browning, the aim is to generate innovative, multidisciplinary approaches necessary to understand ageing people, relations between age groups, and the economic, social, and policy contexts that shape ageing experiences.
Associate Professor Browning, who is National Convenor of the Healthy Ageing Theme of the Network, said the event aimed to bring together established and early career researchers and end-point users, forming a unique network that generates and implements research agendas and translates and applies findings to national goals
The network consists of a group of leading Australian and international scientists with the common interest of ageing research.
Goals of the Workshop include identify current knowledge and activities in the area of interventions to promote healthy ageing and to identify key knowledge gaps in this area.
A major aim is to outline studies and frameworks designed to address these identified gaps.
