EXPERIENCE LA TROBE DAY
Experience La Trobe Day - a free day packed with events and information for Year 11 and 12 students - will be held at La Trobe University’s Melbourne (Bundoora) campus on Thursday, 7 July.
The event is expected to attract about 180 students from local and regional Victorian schools.
‘Experience La Trobe Day’ offers VCE students the opportunity to spend a day on a large metropolitan campus and gives them a chance to participate in three workshops to find out more about courses and career options,’ says Ms Alex Sims of La Trobe’s Office for Prospective Students.
The students may choose three workshops selected from the following: Transition to University; Selection; Health Information Management; Prosthetics and Orthotics; Nursing; Law and Legal Studies; Teaching and the Environment; Media and Journalism; Tourism and Hospitality; Computer Games Technology; Psychology; LTU campus network; Physiotherapy; Speech Pathology; Humanities and Social Sciences; Nanotechnology; Podiatry; Occupational Therapy; English; Medicinal Chemistry; Business.
Another workshop will be an active one - a walking tour of the various on-campus accommodation options. They can also take a tour of campus facilities including sports and recreation areas, laboratories, library, lecture theatres and student clubs.
A brochure outlining the event will be sent to all secondary schools in Victoria and southern NSW. Students from regional areas can also stay on campus overnight as there are 20 room vacancies at Glenn College. This will give them the opportunity to travel to Melbourne the day before the event, stay on-campus and have dinner and breakfast provided. The cost of this package will be $33.55 per student.
Year 11 and 12 students will have the opportunity to talk to members of academic staff of the various Faculties and also to chat to current students who can give them personal insights into campus life.
