'Place I': Judy Holding exhibits at La Trobe University
Melbourne based artist, Judy Holding, will showcase her most recent works at the La Trobe University Art Museum, Glenn College, Bundoora Campus , from 9 June to 20 July 2005, (Melway 473 G5, Parking carpark 6 or 7).
Titled 'Place I', her exhibition explores the infinite aspects of landscape, offering rich and evocative interpretations informed by ancient histories and new discoveries. Exhibition hours are Tuesday to Friday 12 noon to 4 pm.
The exhibition will be opened by Professor Michael Meehan, Head of School of Communication and Creative Arts, Deakin University, on Wednesday 15 June, from 6-8pm.
Judy Holding will conduct floor talks on Wednesday 22 June and Tuesday 5 July, both beginning at 5.30pm.
Ms Holding has been exhibiting since 1983. She has participated in 22 solo shows and 77 group shows throughout Melbourne, regional Victoria and Australia.
She has been represented in the La Trobe University art collection since the late 1990s by several paintings, works on paper and assemblages.
Founded in 1966, the La Trobe University Art Collection comprises more than 2,000 post-war and contemporary Australian and Indigenous works of art as well as other significant cultural collections.
These have been displayed across the University’s metropolitan and regional campuses, included in exhibitions at the La Trobe University Art Museum and external venues as well as in major touring exhibitions.
* Concurrent with 'Place I' at La Trobe University Judy Holding will be holding 'Place II' exhibition at Gallery 101, Ground Level, 101 Collins St., Melbourne. That exhibition runs from June 28 to July 16.
