AMERICAN EXPERTS AT LA TROBE FAMILY WELFARE SEMINAR
Two American experts in child and family welfare will present a seminar at La Trobe University on Monday 2 May.
They are Professors Marianne Berry and Mark Ezell, both of the School of Social Welfare at the University of Kansas, USA.
Presented by La Trobe’s School of Social Work and Social Policy, the seminar will be held from 3.30 to 5 pm in the John Scott Meeting House La Trobe University Melbourne campus, Kingsbury Drive, Bundoora (Car Park 7: Melway map 573 G-4).
Professor Berry has a distinguished academic career and high international profile. She is widely published in the child and family welfare domain. Her current research interests include family preservation and family reunification.
Professor Ezell’s publications and research interests include juvenile justice, advocacy and welfare administration.
Professor Berry’s topic will be ‘International Research on Community Centres’ and Professor Ezell’s topic will be ‘Evaluation and Agency Level Contributors to Outcomes’.
Both Professors Berry and Ezell are members of the International Association for Outcome-Based Evaluation and Research in Family and Children’s Services.
Their academic visit to La Trobe University will include consultation regarding the Melbourne component of a cross national study under the auspices of the International Association. The Melbourne component of the study is being undertaken by Dr Patricia McNamara of La Trobe’s School of Social Work and Social Policy.
